Atlanta has an incredible food scene. And as you can probably tell from scrolling through my blog or Instagram feed, I certainly take advantage of it! But what you don’t see are the times I skip the restaurants and whip something up in the kitchen. And because I tend to indulge when eating out, I love finding healthy recipes and products to keep at home.
The other week I was invited to check out Sprouts, a farmers market turned grocery store with 12 locations in Atlanta. I was immediately impressed by the quality and variety of products. And best of all? The prices were very reasonable. So as someone who loves Whole Foods but feels guilty every time I’m at the checkout counter, Sprouts has quickly become my new best friend.
Marissa, an RDN who works with Sprouts, spoke about the importance of keeping a healthy gut through eating probiotic and prebiotic foods. And she also gave us great tips on how to do it! Products like greek yogurt, kefir, kombucha tea, fermented foods and more can all help to achieve a balanced and healthy gut. And of course Sprouts has an awesome selection of all of these probiotic-rich foods.
After our “lesson” on probiotic foods, we had the opportunity to taste them! We tried different varieties of Farmhouse Culture’s kraut, kimchi and this liquid called “gut shot.” I was surprised how much I liked it all! They are probably items I would have passed on the grocery shelf if I hadn’t tried them, but I’m so happy I did.
And even if you’re not a health nut, Sprouts is worth checking out! It carries most grocery store staples, has a great salad bar and (my personal favorite) an amazing bulk section. You can get anything from beans to candy in any size bag you want!
Have you shopped at Sprouts before? What did you think?
