Cookies and cupcakes are delicious (really, they’re so good!) but my favorite sweet treat? DONUTS. Donuts have taken the foodie scene by storm as of late and its easy to understand why. They’re flaky, fluffy, sweet, gooey and come in a million different styles! They go just as good with coffee as they do with ice cream. Donuts are basically the mecca of baked goods.
And it looks like I’m not the only one with a minor donut obsession because Atlanta is filled with delicious donut shops– and new ones are popping up by the second! So if you like donuts as much as I do keep on reading. Here are six can’t-miss donut shops in Atlanta.
Revolution is located in Decatur, and you’ll be hard pressed to find it empty. It opened back in 2012 and has quickly become an Atlanta staple. All of their donuts are amazing, but I’m a little partial to the raspberry sprinkle and cinnamon apple fritter!
Have any food allergies? Revolution makes donuts for vegans and people with sensitivities to gluten, eggs or dairy.
Bon Glaze is one of the newer players in the Atlanta donut scene, but it has already made quite the name for itself. With its main location in Brookhaven and another (smaller) shop in Buckhead, Bon Glaze is known for its decadent flavors and – my personal favorite – the bon buddies!
And while donuts are certainly the focus, Bon Glaze also serves sweet treats like chocolate covered bacon and fully loaded waffles.
You’ve probably seen the iconic “A” donut in photos– it’s from Sublime! Sublime has two Atlanta locations: one in the Westside and another in Druid Hills. From the donut burgers to the Happy Birthday donuts to the fact that it stays open 24 hours a day, there are so many reasons to love Sublime!!
Thrillist named DaVinci’s one of the 33 Best Donut Shops in America— so you know it has to be good. And with locations in Alpharetta, Sandy Springs and Dunwoody, you have a ton of opportunities to taste these little bits of heaven.
And speaking of little… Something I love about DaVinci’s is the size of their donuts. They are much smaller than the average donut, so I never have to feel guilty about tasting a few! They have pre-made flavors (like the top-selling salted caramel) or a “design your own” option. But no matter what you order, you’re going to love it!
This one is a bit out of the way, but after one of its donuts snagged the top spot in Creative Loafing’s Ultimate Atlanta Doughnut Smackdown I knew I had to stop by!
Sarah Donuts has 4 locations- all OTP. But just as Creative Loafing predicted, these donuts are well worth the drive. The Sunflower was by far my favorite, but the most interesting donut award would have to go to the hot dog donut! (Yes, you heard me right. A donut-like bread surrounds a hot dog filled with cheese and jalapeño. WHAAT?!)
Located in Marietta, Doughnut Dollies is another OTP donut shop that’s more than worth the drive. Doughnut Dollies has SO many incredible flavors- the Dollie (their signature creme brûlée donut!), Pineapple Upside-down, Red Velvet, Cereal Bowl, and my personal favorite: the Birthday Cake! Choosing just one to taste is hard, so I suggest going with a friend so you can taste a bunch!
