Storico Fresco: A New Italian Can’t-Miss

by | Aug 17, 2016 | Food & Drink

I try to stop by one of Atlanta’s many amazing farmers markets as often as I can. I’m always enamored by the decadent pastries, savory cheeses, and fresh produce. One of my favorite market vendors has quickly become Storico Fresco, which sells incredible handmade pastas, filled pastas and more. So when I heard that my favorite pasta vendor was opening up a restaurant, I knew it was going to be amazing.

Storico Fresco Ristorante e Alimentari is located on Peachtree Road in Buckhead and is open for lunch and dinner. It is a full-blown Italilan restaurant plus a little Italian market. (The prepared foods section is to die for! And talk about an easy dinner…) I stopped by for lunch on Monday and was happily- and not surprisingly- delighted.

The entire menu is delicious, but the absolute must-try are the squash blossoms! Hands down the best squash blossoms I have ever tasted. If you’ve never had them before, they are fried and filled with ricotta and mozzarella. Fried, cheesy food? Always a win in my book.

Next up was the “Polpette,” which were Berkshire meatballs in a savory red sauce and topped with mozzarella cheese. They were cooked to perfection and the sauce was amazing. (I may have eaten the leftover sauce plain… No judgement please!) And just as I was finishing up the meatballs, the main event arrived: the pasta.

I mean, it just wouldn’t be right to go to Storico Fresco without ordering pasta! If Storico Fresco’s pasta can taste so delicious when I make it- and I’m no chef- then I knew it was going to be show-stopping good when made directly from the source! I tried the “Bertu con Guanciale,” which was filled with ricotta cheese and had little pieces of sweet Italian sausage on top. And not gonna lie– it was pretty awesome.

While I usually stray away from big Italian lunches, I was pleasantly surprised with Storico Fresco’s lunch portions. I definitely left full, but the food was fairly light and the portions appropriately sized. I will definitely be adding this to my lunch rotation! And I need to come back for dinner, too!

Have you tried Storico Fresco Alimentari? What was your favorite dish? Let me know in the comments!
