Atlanta Brunch Alert: Food 101

by | Jul 14, 2016 | Food & Drink

A few months ago I wrote an article about where to find the best brunch in Atlanta— and I love every restaurant on that list. But if I had tried Food 101’s brunch before finishing it up, it definitely would have been included among the greats.

Food 101 is located in what is technically Sandy Springs, but so far south that it is basically in Buckhead. (It’s literally two minutes up the road from Buttermilk Kitchen.) I kept seeing great brunch photos from Food 101 shared on social media, so last weekend I finally decided to try it out, and boy did it not disappoint. It really may be one of Atlanta’s most underrated brunch spots.

Just like all good brunch experiences, my Food 101 brunch began with a cocktail. The mimosas are delicious (did someone say bottomless??), but the coolest part is the Bloody Mary bar which is equipped with any and all of the toppings you can dream of. A variety of hot sauces, celery, olives, peppers, bacon and more. After one sip, I decided that if the food was half as good as the drinks were, I was in for a treat.

… Oh and guess what? The food was even better.

I have a small (big?) obsession with avocado toast, so anytime I see it on the menu it is a must. And I give a huge thumbs up to Food 101’s avocado toast. Freshly baked bread with avocado, egg and hot sauce. So many things I love in one dish!

Next it was time for the main course. I have a constant dilemma when ordering brunch: sweet or savory. And while I usually go for savory, this time I opted for the cinnamon french toast, and no part of me was disappointed. My boyfriend went the savory route and ordered the southern omelette– and you know I dug into that too! Everything tasted better than I could have imagined.

Food 101 is a southern-inspired farm to table restaurant. Brunch is served only on Sundays, but the restaurant is open seven days a week. (I hear dinner is awesome, too!) Have you been to Food 101? Let me know in the comments!
