Can you believe 2015 is almost over? I can’t. But what a year it’s been! And thanks to one of my favorite local chefs, Ford Fry, us Atlantans can have an equally as great start to 2016.
Three of Ford Fry’s restaurants are hosting special New Year’s Day brunches: No. 246, King + Duke and St. Cecilia. Each is preparing a special menu that is both drool-worthy and hangover-friendly. Thank goodness!
No. 246
This Italian restaurant is at the top of my Decatur bucket list. No. 246 “focuses on seasonal cooking with high-quality ingredients.” And on January 1, No. 246’s menu will feature brunch favorites like Breakfast Pizza (pictured) and House-Made Mortadella Eggs Benedict. Plus, it’s kid-friendly with hot cider to sip on and s’mores to roast around the fire pit on the back patio!
King + Duke
Named after characters in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, King + Duke is a Buckhead favorite that uses the open-fire cooking technique to bring unique flavors to its food. On New Year’s Day, Executive Chef EJ Hodgkinson is preparing a brunch to help cure that champagne hangover. The menu features a Brunch Burger topped with Bacon, Egg and American Cheese or (one of personal southern favorites) Fried Chicken with Biscuits and Country Gravy.
St. Cecilia
Last but not least: St. Cecilia. (This is where I’ll be!) Another Buckhead favorite, St. Cecilia is known for its coastal European fare. Executive Chef Craig Richards will be preparing a Tagliolini with House-Made Guanciale and Egg or a Ricotta Berry Waffle. St. Cecilia’s Beverage Manager, Clarke Anderson, will help us to re-hydrate with fresh pressed juice elixirs: “On a Coconut Island,” a mix of kale, grapefruit, lime, date and coconut, or “Stratavarius,” a mix of ginger, apple, honey, lemon and orange.
So, THANK YOU Ford Fry Restaurants for putting together these amazing brunch specials and giving us all a great reason to push our hangovers aside and get out of bed on January 1. Cheers to 2016!
